Royal Rumble Let Down

Well I created this account a while ago now but only just getting round to sorting it out.
And what better way to start my columns than with my fav ppv the Royal Rumble
Now the opening match of the night was the retirement match

MVP vs Ric Flair
Now I knew that Flair wasnt going to loose to mvp but I was still hoping, with mvp improving in the ring with each week even though I dont watch smackdown that much, that this was going to be a good match. Wow was I wrong. Now a couple of years ago Flair did have a few good matches left in him and every bad word I see about him retiring I say well he still has a lot to offer the young guys and he still needs a salary but after tonight I was in pain watching him. Firstly he should give up trying to do the knee breaker because his oppenant cannot seem to get a good lift off of his head. I will give him props though for getting the superplex especially with his back. In the end I already knew the outcome but not the best match to get my attention.

Chris Jericho vs JBL
Now to start off with I think this should have been give some type of stipulation. Last man standing or no dq would have been good because another thing that dissapointed me tonight was no special match types. All matches one on one. Anyway back to the match. Few mistakes in the match with jericho attemping the bulldog and jbl not following through with it. At least that woke the crowd up because up until that point they had been asleep through that match. Now what didnt make sense was jericho bleeding from the head when it was clear he went should first into the ring post. After that though the crowd seemed to start getting into the match. By that time though the end was nearing and bit of a sudden finish with the steel chair. As I said would have been better with a stip but Im a jericho fan and i cant stand jbl so im glad to see jericho get revenge.

Edge vs Rey Mysterio for World Heavyweight Title
Now as Ive said I dont watch Smackdown all the much so this match didnt interest me too much. I have been an edge fan for years and never like Mysterio so I thought it was cool that the crowd at MSG agreed with me. The match itself was a good match and I liked how rey sold his leg injury nearly all the way through the match which is pretty uncommon these days. Vickie suddenly standing up out of the wheelchair kinda reminded me of linda at wrestlemania 17. I liked it when she got kicked in the head by mysterio but didnt see the spear coming after that by Edge. Overall Im glad Edge retained and knew Mysterio wasnt in line for another title shot.

Randy Orton vs Jeff Hardy for WWE Championship
Now coming into this match as is common in most wwe title matches now is that one superstar has all the momentum coming into the ppv which is mostly the challenger and the championg is always loosing on the way to the ppv and yet the champion seems to pull it off at the ppv.
So it was no suprise in this match that Jeff didnt get the title. I thought though that he might still win the match and didnt see the clean win by Orton. I didnt see that RKO coming but I suppose that was just to keep Orton occupied until a more sutible challenger comes through even though Im a big supporter of Jeff and I think he deserves the title just as much as any other guy.

The 30 Men Royal Rumble
Now I wont be going into much detail here as its a long match. The start was great. A smart move by wwe to start off with the 2 superstars who are both rumoured to retire this year and the 2 men who finished last years rumble. Absoulty hilarious Santino getting elimanted so quickly. Now Ill fast foward to the end. I gotta say I didnt see Cena coming and even though I dont like the charactor I will give props to the WWE with that suprise (just wish it was anyone else but cena). After Cena came down the result of the Rumble was all but confirmed. Cena was gonna win and we will get Cena, Cena, Cena shoved down our throats for the next year. Now unless Cena goes after the world heavyweight title then its gooing to be difficult tuning into raw each week now. I just hope now Cena has got his title shot he stays away from the title until wrestlemania so we dont get him in the main event week after week. Also I hope Jeff is done in the main event picture.

Anyway I will hopefully back to comment on Raw on Tuesday without the column becoming a cena hate column instead
